Who are we?
My Jute Company (formerly known as HAARU Products and Packaging HP&P) is a Singapore - Kuwait based company, set up as a one stop jute product company that offers eco packaging ideas and solutions to environmentally conscious clients and corporate businesses. We understood that single-use plastic bags were wasteful and costly to the environment. We felt that by bringing our own jute bags we could ignite conversations and inspire others to embrace the three green R’s, in the order they were created.
REDUCE REUSE RECYCLE
We imagined the reusable bag movement could grow. We want to bring our sustainable solutions for "social change agents" and "pioneers" to the market. We believe that transitioning to reusable-sustainable bags is the first step of many toward creating a world with less waste. Today, all over world, the banning and taxing of single-use plastic bags has created a "reusable-revolution." Which we are excited to be part of.
Twenty years ago, very few brought their own bags to shop. Ten years ago, there were more. In the last five years, there has been an upsurge of people doing it. Environmental practices are not only internationally accepted, they are encouraged and embraced by many.
WHAT IS JUTE?
Jute has been grown for textile purposes on the Indian subcontinent for at least 5,000 years. The earliest evidence of the production of this plant fiber dates to approximately 3000 BC. Even though cotton production was also popular in India, jute played a more central role in the development of Indian society for the millennia preceding the effects of European colonialism.
Jute is a natural plant fiber that can be spun into strong threads and is commonly used for making anything from rope to fabric. Natural Jute Bags are so popular because they are eco-friendly and organic.
The production of jute fabric has remained largely the same for centuries. In most cases, mature jute stalks are harvested by hand, and they are then defoliated. Jute fibers can be derived from both the inner stem and the outer skin of the stalk.
Jute has an overall positive impact on the environment. In fact, it is one of the few natural fibers that provide environmental benefits instead of being detrimental.
Both rice and jute are generally grown in the same areas since these crops require similar growing environments. While rice depletes the soil in which it is grown, jute production returns nutrients to the soil and helps retain soil moisture. Therefore, rice and jute are symbiotic crops, and growing these two agricultural products together diminishes the environmental impact of rice cultivation.
Like all-natural textile fibers, jute is biodegradable. Therefore, it does not accumulate in the environment, and it does not release microfibers, which continually cause more and more pollution of waterways and other aquatic ecosystems.

There’s a greater understanding now, that when you "throw away" a single-use plastic bag, it never really goes “away”. If you want to live in a clean environment that means you need to participate in keeping it clean. There’s so much accessible information, to support the importance of using reusable bags and stop the usage of single-use plastic.
